When new foundations were being considered among the members of St. Norbert Abbey the first concern that emerged was the need to serve the poor and marginalized in various parts of the country. Upon an invitation from the local bishop of the Jackson, Mississippi Diocese, the Norbertines established the Jackson Foundation in 1990. They selected St. Moses the Black as the patron Saint because he was a man of peace and reconciliation.
The Norbertines of St. Moses the Black engage in apostolic work in the Jackson community, including serving as pastors, teachers, hospital chaplains, social work, peace and justice advocacy, and educators. |
